William-Adolphe Bouguereau (French, 1825-1905) was identified by some as a photo-idealist as it was suspected that he worked from photographs… He used photographs as a tool to study the play of light and, at times, in a portrait of a deceased person. Regularly, however, he worked from live models as seen in this photograph of his painting two girls…
